Set of four quill-wrapped horse-hair rosettes for a strip

This artwork is available for acquisition. For pricing and further information, please reach out to lukas@navratil.com

Materials: Braintanned hide, horse-hair, porcupine quills, antique seed beads

Made in: 2020

These rosettes were crafted for a strip intended to be mounted on a tanned bison hide. The design plan included beaded rectangles in the Transmontane style, using seed beads, to be placed between the rosettes. Unfortunately, I will not be able to complete this project, so I am offering the rosettes for sale.

This allows you to complete the strip according to your own vision. Below are some images of extant originals for inspiration and to give you a better idea of the final result.

  • Quantity: 4 pieces (completely identical).
  • Technique: Quill-wrapped horsehair, which is widely considered one of the most difficult and demanding quillwork techniques.
  • Materials: Each rosette is edged with antique seed beads in dark bottle green and chalk white.
  • Dimensions: The diameter of each rosette is 15.5 cm (approx. 6.1 inches).

Note: These rosettes are being sold as a complete set only, not individually.
