Description: Knife sheath made in the early Transmontane style. For this early stage of development, the use of white pound beads as a background is typical. The Transmontane figures are already beaded with seed beads, which represents a certain progression compared to the period when even the figures were worked with pound beads. In later stages of the Transmontane style’s evolution, the background also began to be embroidered with seed beads, and subsequently, its color changed to light or medium blue, or pink. As for the design, I was inspired by several extant pieces, particularly mirror bags. The fringes are wrapped in wool yarn, which is quintessential for Crow work.
